The correct method to laying the perfect Patio -

STEP 1: Preparing for the patio base

Dig out and excavate to the desired and correct. depth, now use a sub-grade layer (Type 1) to a minimum depth of 65mm. Compact the (Type 1) using a whacker plate to ensure no subsidence or sinking of your patio - slabs. Smooth and level the sub-grade before laying the bedding layer of grit sand or cement.Level and smooth the sand/cement ready for the laying of the slabs or blocks.

STEP 2: Paving Slabs or Porcelain

Start by laying the slabs onto the mortar in the desired pattern you want, ensuring that they are level.

STEP 3: Pointing

Always ensure that pointing is done when the slabs are dry.At The Resin Monkey we use a resin based mortar to point a patio. Allow 1-2 hours for the mortar and any excess mortar to dry before sweeping the excess away with a brush.
